A true Christian is one who has been born again by a spiritual
birth, who has been saved from his or her sins (John 3:3-6). A true Christian,
then, is a new creation (II Corinthians 5:17). Though he is in the world, yet
he is not of the world (I John 2:15-16). He does not partake of its evil deeds
(II John 11). He is a member of the Body of Christ (I Corinthians 12:27).
What does the true Christian believe? He believes that the Bible is the inspired
Word of God (II Timothy 3:15-17). He believes that Jesus Christ is God (Collosians
1:14-17). He believes that Jesus Christ died for his sins (I Corinthians 15:3),
that salvation is by faith and by grace alone, and no amount of works, righteous
or otherwise, can result in his salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). He believes that
Christ Jesus is coming again only for those who are members of the family of
God (I Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Now the question is, What if all that we believe were not true? In other words,
what if there were no afterlife? Just what would we lose? The answer is, Nothing!
Now, then, what about the unbeliever? He does not believe the Bible is the Word
of God. In fact, he does not believe in God at all. He believes that Jesus Christ
is not God and that the whole of Christianity is but a myth. He does not believe
in the hereafter. He does "his own thing." He himself becomes his own god. If
he is prosperous, he does not believe that God had anything to do with it.
The Bible tells the story of a rich farmer (Luke 12:16-21), He did not give
God any credit at all. He was proud that he had "much goods." He said, "I will
pull down my barns, and build greater" ones. He thought that he would have all
that he needed for several years to come. But God said, "Thou fool, this night
thy soul shall be required of thee."
What is there is a God, there is a hereafter, that there is life after death?
What if there is a Hell? What will the unbeliever say when he stands before
God? Nothing! What will he lose? Everything!
Do not gamble with your soul. Do not take chances with your life. While God's
mercy and grace is reaching out toward you, why not believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ and receive Him as your Saviour.
